A permanent change, or just merely a temporarary fix?
By: Blackrulon
I notice that during the Ogden LDS temple open house UTA has made the decision to resume bus service on lower 25th street.
Will this be a permanent change to the UTA route or just merely a temporary change during the open house schedule? It is interesting to wonder why all of the problems city leaders, 25th business owners and UTA executives noted when they cancelled the prior UTA bus service on that route are no longer valid.
Comments, anyone?

When you consider that most of our city fathers are lds this doesnt suprise me however has the question been asked id uta is getting paid extra for the change and will this change result in an increase in local police involvment downtown because the bus stops around the ampitheater are very unsafe .... very unsafe
Ahem, Earnest! The current, poorly lighted bus stops on 26th are even more unsafe
The question of who is paying for the shuttle is a good one, but the question about will the bus changes be permanent seem silly. The article did not say that they were going to change any of the bus routes, it said they were going to add a shuttle that would go from the frontrunner station up 23rd to Washington then over to 25th and down 25th to Wall to return to the station. And obviously, that shuttle will only be running during the period of the open house.
It still begs the question as to why all of the reasons given for cancelling the 25th bus route are no longer valid concerns. Undesirable persons riding the bus/shuttle, traffic congestation, blocking parking, etc.
BR, BR, BR, don't you understand that the old bus route down 25th Street brought The Wrong Sort Of People downtown, where they got on and off buses and waited for buses in public in front of furniture stores and god and everybody. The come-to-meetin' shuttles are expected to bring he Right Sort 0f People downtown for a whike, not the riff-raff.
I haven't ridden the 603 to anyplace west of Washington since they moved the route. Now I drive it if I need to go, but more often I just go someplace easier. I used to ride down and back for breakfast/lunch in good weather. Haven't since the change. I'm not fit to be seen waithing for a bus on 25th street but need to be shunted to the back end of parking lots on a street where nothing's open after five? Well, to that I say a pox on 'em. I won t.
Interesting story, but I feel there is a much bigger story the WC Forum should be covering. It appears good ol' Chris Petersen is one step closer to closing off a large section of Ogden's bench trails.

Thanks for the tip, Ogden Tril Lover. Your blogmeister is on it...
The question is, why isn't the Se?
They are waiting for the SLTribune to cover the story.
I'm still actively working on this story, folks. From a legal point of view, it's tricky, to say the least.
I "liked" your comment about safety because I thought you were being sarcastic. Say it's so, please!
No. I was being serious. The relatively isolated UTA route 603 bus stops are far more dangerous now, than when they were located on 25th street, in my never humble opinion.
Any suggestions as to how those of us not "in the know" can find out how to get around downtown during this monumental event with its projected hordes.
