"The Boss" & "The Frump's Shill" Take a Councilwoman to Lunch

By Jason W.

A trusted associate of mine was lunching at Rooster's yesterday, when Little Matty Godfrey was directed to a nearby table (he apparently declined the standard booster seat offer). In his party were newly appointed Councilwoman Susan Van Hooser and head silly-gondola-to-nowhere cheerleader Curt Geiger. No doubt, Geiger regaled Mrs. Van Hooser with tales of dining alongside Wolfgang Puck, who will build a restaurant inside Frump Peterson magical castle in Malan's Basin.

I'm certain he also repeated what the gondolists have been whispering for months: they are simply awaiting a U.S. Forest Service permit to build a station at Snowbasin, one-third of which will come into Frump's possession when the billionaire dies, or is taken out of his cryogenic chamber.

This is most alarming and needs to be made public. This is why Little Matty and the Geigers have maintained a congenital connection to Snowbasin, and it's why they are fervent and unabashed selling this load of horseshit to two-man operations like Nidecker and Goode.

This raises a host of legal and ethical issues (the administration making false promises based on conditions over which they have no control) and is also problematic because my sources say the permit is already denied; and that Frump is going to be shut out of Snowbasin when the billionaire dies. Someone needs to call Godfrey on the carpet about this. Anyone? Anyone?

Nice. This site talks about responsibilty and accuracy. Then propagates rumor and innuendo.

Well my sister's father-in-law's hair-dresser knows Matt's pet groomer's cousin and they said...

My sources say he who lives in glass house shouldn't throw stones. Of course, my source was a fortune cookie.

Like all great journalistic institutions, Weber County Forum has added a gossip columnist.

We just keep getting better and better...

So you're suggesting that this celebrity sighting is flawed?

We're not at all sure we understand your problem.

I think I would call Jason W. onto the carpet before mayor matty it takes the bs award article of the year at wcforum.

I stand with Careful on this one.

The Jason W. post contains only speculation about what was said. He is "certain" that "no doubt" thus and so was said, because... well, because he is certain. Then he goes on to talk about the "legal" and "ethical" problems involved in what he surmises was said.

The only "news" involved here is that evidently the Mayor and his puppet master, Mr. Geiger, are lobbying the new Council member. As news, this ranks right up there with "Sun To Rise In East" and "Cardinals Choose Catholic as New Pope." I expect those who think differntly on this matter will lobby the new Councilwoman as well.

If the Council chose well in electing Ms. Van Hooser, she will maintain her independence and exercise her own judgement about what she may or may not have been told about whatever it was they were discussing. She will look for, and find, other sources of information [on all significant issues] so she can weigh and balance the public interests involved before making up her mind. If all that is likely to be short-circuited by a plate of mango chicken accompanied by the dulcet tones of a Godfrey & Geiger duet, the Council made a very unwise choice. But I have, at this point, no reason to think it did.

I'm all for piling on when Council members choose wisely, and make bad decisions. But all this angst over a new Council member having lunch with the Mayor and his chief handler seems way way over the top to me.

Hell, Hizzonah & Mr. Geiger want to buy me and Mrs. Curmdgeon lunch at Roosters, I'm game. [And we don't know, by the way, whether the lunch was on the Mayor, on the City, on Mr. Geiger or Dutch treat. And I don't much care.]

Whole lotta heart burnin' over nothin' much, seems to me. "Careful" got it right this time.

Hopefully the new council woman Van Hooser has had her full array of inoculations. Especially the new Bull Shit vacine that is said to work against the Geiger Gondola Strains.

Gossip column? Here on the WCF? So what's new?

This is bad news. Why should Van Hooser be meeting with these people? One supposes there should be little doubt in her mind what they want. I wonder if Dorrene feels this meeting was innocuous.

Yes very bad news. Three people had lunch.

This is why I don't eat with people I don't agree with. I know that I will suddenly be able to think for myself.

Though it get quite boring, and sad to eat alone all of the time.

NOT be able to think for myself....see it is happening already.

Dorrene wouldn't have had lunch with those two! Remember that it was Dorrene who is the ONLY Council member who refused to meet privately with Godfrey when he was blatantly lobbying the Council for Peterson.

Too bad Dorrene didn't tell Van Hooser about Godfrey and his PR man, Geiger. Of course, Van Hooser should have known Godfrey didn't invite her to lunch just 'cause he's a good guy'.

Anyone recall that the night Van Hooser was selected, the littlest man slunk down and sulked in his too big chair. Recall that he refused to get up, come down to the podium where Mrs. Van Hooser stood with her husband, taking congrats from the crowd? He never did speak to her. I asked, "has the mayor come down and shaken your hand?" Van Hooser:, 'No..maybe I should...' I said, "Don't you dare....it's his place to come and congratulate you! Don't go to him."

This little dictator truly beleives he's above common courtesies being extended by 'himself'. He's rude, arrogant, dismissive, pouty, controlling, and mean-spirited.

So, WHY would he have Geiger and himself at the same table with Susan? Hmmmm? that's a no-brainer.

Now, Jason W...I enjoyed your tidbit of
celebrity watching'...and I don't get my kidneys in a knot from your ruminations. Any posting here should be astute enuf to know that you or your paparazzi connection did not ACTUALLY overhear the threesome, but you were having a bit of fun satirically 'reporting' on the brainwashing of the lovely Susan.

Let's HOPE she had indigestion and the queasiness will reoccur every time she sees those two masters of manipulation.

LOL!

Even University profs speculate.

Fact-coherent rumor is still called hypothesis in academic circles, innit?.

Yes, Annonymous, I think that luncheon date was harmless. I talked with Susie before the Council interviewed her. In fact I did my homework as I took the selection of a new Council member very seriously and I talked with both women, because I wanted to know them better than a letter and resume tell you. Either one would have been a great asset to the Council. Susie is a delight, but strong in her conviction to know ALL the facts before making a decision, and she won't be easily swayed. She seems to have common sense, integrity, and high ethics. Susie is a great addition to the Council, and I am looking forward to working with her.

I'm thinking that the town folk would have liked to even know them as well as a letter and resume tell you.
