Hatch Says He Regrets His 'I Don't Care' Comment About Trump Allegations

Read up about his corrective statement, Peeps:

There's more news about Utah's Senator Hatch, the longest serving Senator in the U.S. Senate (and part-time coffin model.) Hatch now realizes he made a major blunder when he was earlier quoted across the Internet, saying, "OK, but I don't care (about President Trump's possible criminal misconduct), all I can say is he's doing a good job as President."

We don't know whether his dhrp-eyed handlers tipped him off, or whether he recognized his error himself, but read up about  his corrective statement, Peeps:
Yes. that's quite a bit better, wethinks.

Here are further excerpts from the above linked story:
In the statement released on Friday, the senator also said, "While I don't believe Michael Cohen is any kind of reliable voice in this process, I have expressed confidence in Bob Mueller and his investigation countless times," a reference to special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and any potential links between Trump campaign associates and Russia.
Hatch went on to say that "when we see Mueller's full report and the complete filings from the New York U.S. Attorney's office, we can determine the path forward. While I believe the President has succeeded in a number of important policy areas, that success is separate from the validity of these investigations, which I believe should be allowed to run their course."
Hatch will be retiring from the Senate at the end of the yeat, and according to news reports, will be going full-time coffin model post-retirement.

House Intelligence Committee Investigation is Dead on Arrival

Jackass House speaker Ryan won't appoint anyone else of course

This is what happens you appoint a lame-brain Tulare County, California farmer (with Zero legal training) to "lead" the "House Intelligence Committee," so-called:

Jackass House speaker Ryan won't appoint anyone else of course, since the US GOP has a shortage of "good, ethical lawyers" who have even a hint of "normal ethics."

Weber County Forum Sunday Sermon: "And Jesus Said Unto Paul of Ryan ..."

Check your "Christian Values," US Republicans

Fine Nicholas Kristof Op-ed from the New New York Times. It's a true work of genius, we think, so we won't clip it; but will instead incorporate every dang word of it in full:

And Jesus Said Unto Paul of Ryan ...
by: Nicholas Kristof

A woman who had been bleeding for 12 years came up behind Jesus and touched his clothes in hope of a cure. Jesus turned to her and said: “Fear not. Because of your faith, you are now healed.”

Then spoke Pious Paul of Ryan: “But teacher, is that wise? When you cure her, she learns dependency. Then the poor won’t take care of themselves, knowing that you’ll always bail them out! You must teach them personal responsibility!”

They were interrupted by 10 lepers who stood at a distance and shouted, “Jesus, have pity on us.”

“NO!” shouted Pious Paul. “Jesus! You don’t have time. We have a cocktail party fund-raiser in the temple. And don’t worry about them — they’ve already got health care access.”

Jesus turned to Pious Paul, puzzled.

“Why, they can pray for a cure,” Pious Paul explained. “I call that universal health care access.”

Jesus turned to the 10 lepers. “Rise and go,” he told them. “Your faith has made you well.” Then he turned back to Pious Paul, saying, “Let me tell you the story of the good Samaritan.

“A man was attacked by robbers who stripped him of clothes, beat him and left him half dead. A minister passed down this same road, and when he saw the injured man, he crossed to the other side and hurried on. So did a rich man who claimed to serve God. But then a despised Samaritan came by and took pity on the injured man. He bandaged his wounds and put the man on his own donkey and paid an innkeeper to nurse him to health. So which of these three should we follow?”

“Those who had mercy on him,” Pious Paul said promptly.

Jesus nodded. “So go ——”

“I mean the first two,” Pious Paul interjected. “For the Samaritan’s work is unsustainable and sends the wrong message. It teaches travelers to take dangerous roads, knowing that others will rescue them from self-destructive behaviors. This Samaritan also seems to think it right to redistribute money from those who are successful and give it to losers. That’s socialism! Meanwhile, if the rich man keeps his money, he can invest it and create jobs. So it’s an act of mercy for the rich man to hurry on and ignore the robbery victim.”

“How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of Heaven,” Jesus mused to himself. “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter heaven.”

“Let me teach you about love, Jesus — tough love!” Pious Paul explained. “You need a sustainable pro-business model. And you need to give people freedom, Jesus, the freedom to suffer misery and poverty.”

“The Lord God has anointed me to bring good news to the poor,” Jesus replied, emphasizing the last two words. Then he turned to a paralyzed beggar at his feet. “Stand up!” Jesus told the man. “Pick up your mat and go home.” As the man danced about joyfully, Pious Paul rolled his eyes dismissively.

“Look, Jesus, you have rare talent, and it should be rewarded,” Pious Paul said. “I have a partner, The Donald, who would like to work with you: He’d set up a lovely hospital, and the rich would come and pay for you to heal them. You’d get a percentage, and it’d be a real money-spinner. Overhead would be minimal because every morning you could multiply some loaves and fishes. You could strike it rich!”

“Blessed are the poor, for theirs is the kingdom of God,” Jesus said. “But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received comfort.”

“Oh, come on, Jesus,” Pious Paul protested. “Don’t go socialist on me again. Please don’t encourage class warfare. The best way to help the needy is to give public money to the rich. That then inspires the poor to work harder, galvanizes the sick to become healthy, forces the lepers to solve their own problems rather than kick back and depend on others. That’s why any realistic health plan has to focus on providing less coverage for the poor, and big tax benefits for the rich. When millions of people lose health care, that’s when a country is great again!”

“From everyone who has been given much,” Jesus told him, “much will be required.”

“Well, sure, this hospital would have a foundation to do some charity work. Maybe commissioning portraits of The Donald to hang in the entrance. But let’s drop this bleeding heart nonsense about health care as a human right, and see it as a financial opportunity to reward investors. In this partnership, 62 percent of the benefits would go to the top 0.6 percent — perfect for a health care plan.”

Jesus turned to Pious Paul on his left and said: “Be gone! For I was hungry and you gave me no food; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink; and I was sick, and you did not help me.”

“But, Lord,” protested Pious Paul of Ryan, “when did I see you hungry or thirsty or sick and refuse to help you? I drop your name everywhere. And I’m pro-life!”

“Truly, I say to you,” Jesus responded, “as you did not help the homeless, the sick — as you did not help the least of these, you did not help me.”

Breaking: Utah's Jon Huntsman to Be Trump’s Ambassador to Russia

Поздравляю, товарищ Охотник, Russian U.S. Ambassador, John Huntsman!

Too Funny! Despite this earlier Donald Trump twitter B.S.,  it appears that erstwile President Trump has had a change of heart, and picked our beloved former Utah Governor John Huntsman to be his U.S. Ambassador to Russia!

Here's the full story, folks!
As Utahns with reasonably long memories will recall, former Utah Governor Huntsman also served as US. Ambassador to China, during which time he reportedly became "fluent in (Mandarin and Taiwanese Hokkien) Chinese", although at least one particularly nasty anti-Mormon website seems to dispute this.

Given Governor/Ambassador Huntsman's already-demonstrated  facility with language, we'll just say this to the USA's new Russian Ambassador, whom we'll assume will be "fluent in Russian" in no time.
Please post a return comment, Mr. Russian Ambassador Huntsman, once you've finished the State Department's CIA-sponsored "Crash Course Russian Language/Spy School"

Thanks in Advance, Ambassador Huntsman!

Sunday Funnies: Trump Voters, Your Savior Is Betraying You

"You have a false savior, and you will have to turn on him to save yourselves and our nation,"

Eye-opening morning op-ed from The New York Times: Here's the lede, Peeps:
Dear Trump Voters,
You’ve been had. President Trump sold you a clunker. Now that he’s in the White House, he’s betraying you — and I’m writing in hopes that you’ll recognize that betrayal and hold him accountable.
Trump spoke to your genuine pain, to the fading of the American dream, and he won your votes. But will he deliver? Please watch his speeches carefully. You’ll notice that he promises outcomes, without explaining how they’ll be achieved. He’s a carnival huckster promising that America will thrive with his snake oil.
“We’re going to win, we’re going to win big, folks,” Trump declared Friday at the CPAC meeting, speaking of his foreign policy.
Great! Problem solved. Next? He then outlined his take on drug trafficking and what will surely be his outcome:
“No good. No good. Going to stop.” Wow! Why didn’t anyone else think of that?
Read the full NYT editorial, folks, which describes Trump's problems at length.:
Here's more:
Trump’s career has often been built on scamming people who put their faith in him, as Trump University shows. Now he’s moved the scam to a much bigger stage, and he boasts of targeting Muslims, refugees and unauthorized immigrants. Please don’t cheer, or acquiesce in these initial targets. The truth is that among the biggest losers from Trump policies will be you Trump voters, especially those of you from the working and middle class. You were hoping you’d elected a savior, and instead Donald Trump is doing to you what he did to just about everyone who ever trusted him: He’s betraying you,.
In summary, "[t]he sooner you recognize that, the sooner you can fight back and push for policies that will protect your health care and Social Security, defend the integrity of our election system and protect your own interests. You have a false savior, and you will have to turn on him to save yourselves and our nation," this morning's New York Times opinion writer, Nicholas Kristof, warns.

Weber County Forum Special: In Re Tomorrow's Presidential Inauguration Ceremonies

Buckle up, people.  It's bound to be a thrilling next four years, no?

One day shy of Donald Trump's January 20 presidential inauguration, we thought it would be appropriate to cite a few items concerning Donald Trump's BIG  coronation swearing-in ceremony. Sadly, folks it still seems it ain't yet working out exactly as planned.  Here goes:
Even now, even at this late date, there still seem to be a few unplanned glitches;
The Good news for Trump is that bestest Choir in America has agreed to perform at Friday's the inauguration "gala":
The bad news? One erstwhile Mo Tab Choir member stirred up a major brouhaha with this:
"I've tried to tell myself that it will be all right and that I can continue in good conscience before God and man," (resigning choir member Jan) Chamberlain wrote in a Facebook post. "I only know I could never 'throw roses to Hitler.' And I certainly could never sing for him."

Adding to the religious maelstrom was "The Petition," which modern day LDS "Prophet, Seer and Revelator" and LD$, Inc. Chief CEO Tom Monson promptly ignored:
No word yet, whether the highly ethical Ms.Chamberlain will emerge from her brave and admirable "act of  religious conscience" with her holy temple recommend left intact, inasmuch as the bulk of the top LDS Church hierarchy were (or are) solidly registered Republicans, according to this interesting 2014 Salt Lake Tribune story:
And here's the link you've all been looking for, Weber County Forum Political Wonks:
Added bonus:
Additional Added Editorial Bonus:
Here's the REAL problem, wethink, despite the above "cover story":

Music will begin at 9:30 a.m. EST and opening remarks will start at 11:30 a.m. The official transfer of power happens at noon, when Trump will be sworn in by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, according to US Weekly Magazine

Buckle up, people. It's bound to be a thrilling next four years, no?  That's assuming his presidency lasts that long:
"Again, impeachment would be all on the Republican-controlled House, so it seems unlikely that they’re going to want to impeach Trump. That said, you can place an even money bet that he won’t finish out the term over at Ladbrokes right now. Maybe he’ll just get bored and quit. Stranger things have happened, and you’d still get the money."

Place your bets with your favorite bookie, Peeps! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Update 1/20/17  9:00 am Hey Folks: Check out this C-SPAN feed, which is broadcasting the Trump  Coronation WAY early:

Breaking: Crackpot Republicans Just Banned The 1st Amendment On The Floor Of Congress

Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard -- H. L. Mencken

Bad news for democracy, via the Occupy Democrats website:

Here's the disturbing lede:
As if the American people needed any more warning that House Republicans were set to commit even more heinous acts of legislative terrorism once Donald Trump is sworn in, they just passed a bill to ban Democrats from filming or photographing the debates in the House Chamber. The proposed legislation would refer members of the House to the Ethics Committee and would levy [huge] fines against those who would record Congressional business.
And here's the gist:
It’s a clearly undemocratic move to shield the Republican-strangled House from the things they are already salivating at the thought of doing – like gutting Social Security and Medicare, and replacing them with a for-profit voucher system, repealing Obamacare, privatizing veteran’s healthcare, opening up our national parks for fossil fuel developers, cutting off funding for Planned Parenthood, passing abortion bans, deregulating Wall Street, slashing taxes for the rich and the wealthy…the list goes on and on. So much is at stake here, and the public MUST be aware of just exactly what these spineless, honorless cowards are planning to do to the working people of this country.
Read up, people:
As one of our Weber County Forum friends wisely opined this afternoon, "You know, I think a good rule of thumb is this: if you're a Congressperson or Senator doing something on the job you would be ashamed/embarrassed/damaged by if your constituents saw you doing it, maybe you shouldn't be doing it."

Prepare for an unprecedented onslaught on American civil liberties, people, as cretins like Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell prepare to serve their corporate masters, and do their dirty deeds entirely behind closed doors.

Here's our sodden closing quote, as we contemplate all this:

Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard -- H. L. Mencken

Happy 2017, people.

Dallas Morning News Declines to Endorse GOP Nominee for First Time Since 1964

"Donald Trump is not qualified to serve as president and does not deserve your vote," opines the "reddest" editorial board in possibly the reddest state in America

Via NBC News:
The editorial page of the Dallas Morning News is declining to back the Republican presidential nominee for the first time since 1964.
In a scathing editorial, the paper wrote that Donald Trump is "at odds with nearly every GOP ideal this newspaper holds dear. "
"We have no interest in a Republican nominee for whom all principles are negotiable, nor in a Republican Party that is willing to trade away principle for pursuit of electoral victory," the paper wrote. "Trump doesn't reflect Republican ideals of the past; we are certain he shouldn't reflect the GOP of the future. Donald Trump is not qualified to serve as president and does not deserve your vote."
The missive comes as a new poll from the Washington Post shows a dead heat among voters in Texas, a traditionally red state.

Breaking: Supreme Court Legalizes Gay Marriage Nationwide

This may be the best term a solicitor general has ever had

Via the Huffington Post, which reports that marriage equality is now the "law of the land."  Here's the lede, folks:
WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Supreme Court ruled 5-4 on Friday that it is legal for all Americans, no matter their gender or sexual orientation, to marry the people they love.
The decision is a historic victory for gay rights activists who have fought for years in the lower courts. Thirty-seven states and the District of Columbia already recognize marriage equality. The remaining 13 states ban these unions, even as public support has reached record levels nationwide.
The justices found that under the 14th Amendment, states must issues marriage licenses to same-sex couples and recognize same-sex unions that were legally performed in other states. Justice Anthony Kennedy delivered the majority opinion and was joined by Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Elena Kagan, Stephen G. Breyer and Sonia Sotomayor. [Emphasis added].

Breaking: Mitt Romney Is "NOT Running For President In 2016" (Wink-Wink,Nod-Nod)

2016 Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney: "Down" but definitely not "Out"

Uh-oh peeps.  Bad news for Utah Mormons who believe that the US Constitution is "hanging by a thread." Seems that our indigenous  Utah Mormons' most prominent presidential contender, i.e. Mitt Romney, has "thrown in the towel," regarding the possibility of making a 2016 Presidential election run, (and "fulfilling 'the prophesy'"):'
Not to worry, Utah Mormons!  We're confident that the national GOP's #1 flip-flopper (Romney) will be back in the race, no later than May, 2015, once Tom Monson catches wind of this [wink].

Update 2/1/15 10:00 a.m.: The Standard is carrying this Friday, 1/30/15 A.P. story, which provides some local "flavor":
Tantalizing quotes from Utah GOP Party "boss," James Evans:
James Evans, the Utah GOP chair, said he is disappointed, but Romney is doing what the former Massachusetts governor believes will give Republicans the best chance of winning the White House.
“I happen to think that he’s the best possibility,” said Evans, who led a Utah-based “Draft Mitt” campaign to encourage Romney to run again.
Evans is still holding out hope that Romney could change his mind again and run after all.
“I still think there could be a possibility for him to run if none of the other candidates catch fire,” Romney Evans said. “Maybe everyone will come to Mitt Romney later this year and say, ‘We need you to do this.‘“
It gets "interestinger and interestinger," dunnit?
