I too thought the Bagley cartoon was great. He and the guy at Ogden's Standard are both world class political cartoonists in my opinion. Bagley's brother is also a really good writer who does a lot of history stuff.
It will be interesting to see what wild and crazy stuff comes out of today's gathering of fools. The Central Committee of the Supreme Republican of Zion are sure to issue forth with grand pronouncements and the laying on of hands to testify to their grandness, all knowingness, patriarchalness and extremely high ethical standards. Too bad that mad hatter from South Jordan (or was it East Jesus?) Chris the Baffoon Butters ain't around anymore to liven up the idiocy front. Fear not however, as we still have the magical mind of the genetically challenged Wimmer and the hubris laden highness of Waddoups, Valentine, and a handful of other delusional self important marionettes. Without a statesman in the whole sorry lot of them, they are sure to tickle our funny bones with their posturing and pathetic attempts at looking statesmanly.
What are the chances of the GOP brethren and sisters taking a stand on ethics? Or does that only apply when someone who is not Republican makes a ethical lapse?
Dang good question, BR. Your blogmeister attended yesterday's convention BTW, and was delighted to see grass-roots supported candidates Lowell Nelson and Drew Chamberlain oust their respective GOP establishment opponents Christy Achziger and Dana Dickson from the GOP Party Vice Chair and Secretary slots respectively .
If there's any hope that the Utah GOP will lean toward a better position regarding ethics reform, it'll be administrative officers like Nelson and Chamberlain who'll be most likely to lead the charge, IMO.
I noticed he put the feral cat hunting preserve smack in the middle of the wilderness report a wolf if you see one and the federales will go in and shoot it for free area.
Rudi... I love your countdown clock feature you've added to the website. What I want to know is, did Mayor Matt request a doomsday clock when he finally leaves or did you post this as a BYOB Party Clock much like Times Square every December 31st? I know after Jan 1st, 2012......I"ll be grinning ear-to-ear.
