Deseret News: Dan Liljenquist: More ReasonsWhy Utah's AG Should Be Removed

However belatedly, former Utah GOP "apologists" miraculously start "coming outta the woodwork" and suddenly "launch" into Utah GOP damage control mode

Well, we asked:
And we'd wondered, we confess, when (if ever) the "good people" within the Utah GOP "leadership apparatus" (we presume that there at least a few) would finally speak up.

Jackass Contest"
And Lo and Behold, via the sometimes trustworthy Deseret News editorial opinion page, we now learn that hardcore tea-party Republican Dan Liljenquist has now "bravely" stepped up to the plate, and issued what amounts to bullet point accusations which will probably set Our Beloved Utah GOP into "protected mode":
"Et tu brute?" is probably what poor old John Swallow is thinkin' right now, as formerly tongue-tied Utah Republicans start emerging outta the woodwork and launch into full damage control mode.

A WCF Hat Tip to former Utah State Senator Dan Liljenquist, by the way, who even now normally behaves as the proverbial "blind squirrel," and occasionally even finds an "acorn every now and then."

Your ever-cranky comments are now cordially invited as always, O Gentle Ones.

I'm confused about the snarky comments directed at Dan Linjenquist. It seems his letter shows both integrity and cojones, a rare combination.

And it doesn't seem like "damage control" is the appropriate term to use for a guy that is throwing a hand grenade into the corrupt core of the Utah Republican party.

Let's encourage Republicans like Dan Linjenquist and Paul Ray, who are calling out a stinking pile of rotten fish when they smell it.

If you want to direct opprobrium at somebody, how about Governor Hebert? Why has he not called for Swallow's resignation? I think the reason is he is up to his elbows in the aforesaid stinking pile. He and his cronies are the ones executing behind the scenes damage control, not Dan Linjenquist.

I cheer Linjenquist and Ray. Let the cleansing sunshine of truth disinfect the long-rotten Utah Republican party.

Lemme just say, Danny, that I still harbor a serious political grudge against Liljenquist, who did his level best to defeat our own Leg 8 House District Gage Froerer's effort to save Ogden Valley from the from the evils of the then-looming Powderville township B.S. way back when.

Having said that, I do applaud ex-State Senator Liljenquist, for his most recent D-News editorial rant.

"Even a blind squirrel (like Liljenquist) finds an acorn every now and then," after all, as the old saying goes. ;-)

Just give him his standing ovation and get him out of there.

I will believe impeachment is a real possibility only when the political gossip columnists begin circulating rumors about who is maneuvering to get the job when Swallow's ousted. If there isn't enough blood in the water to have the sharks circling and jockeying for position, impeachment's not yet on the table for real.

Do you know what the process is to put a successor in place? I'm guessing governor appoints, and then a special election in 2014. But I'm too lazy to look it up.

When John Swallow causes enough embarrassement to the GOP he will be forced to resign by party leaders. It is close to the tipping point but Swallows only real bargaining position seems to be trading his resignation for some form of state leniency. And hope that the feds do not go for blood. The other real question seems, will voters feel enough voter remorse to seriously consider voting for someone besides a republican in the election to select Swallows replacement?
