The Weber State football team will take on the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in the first round of the 2016 NCAA FCS Playoffs Saturday in Chattanooga. Here's the lede from this morning's Standard-Examiner story Wildcats Fans:
OGDEN — The Weber State football team accomplished its goal of making the FCS Playoffs. Now, the Wildcats face the daunting task of traveling to take on the Chattanooga Mocs of the Southern Conference.Read Brandon Garside's full writeup here:
Chattanooga was ranked in the STATS Top 25 FCS poll every week this season, sometimes as high as No. 5. At 8-3, the Mocs now sit at No. 11, while Weber State has cracked the rankings for the first time all season at No. 25.
“When you get to this stage, everyone’s really good,” WSU head coach Jay Hill said. “They’re exactly what you would expect a playoff team to look like. This is a team that hung with Alabama last week for three quarters. They’re exactly what a Top 25 FCS team should look like.”
Saturday’s game will kickoff at 12 p.m. MST from Finley Stadium in Chattanooga. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3 with Jim Barbar and Watson Brown on the call. ESPN3 is available online as well as on the Watch ESPN Apps. It will also be broadcast on 1430 KLO radio with Tony Parks and former WSU head coach and Athletic Director Jerry Graybeal on the call.
Update 11/26/16 5:31 p.m.: What a bummer, dang!
Frankly, folks we never expected our Wildcats to fall down and play dead, as they did today.
