Here's the good news, Peeps. Congessman Bishop has now been located; and he'll be travelling back to our humble Congressional District NEXT WEEK, to "cuddle up" with we, his neglected constituents. Check this out, Peeps:
Utah County GOP crackpot Jason Chaffetz hosted a really great town hall meeting with his highly-animated constituents just a few weeks ago.

C'mon Weber County voters! Be there; and don't let Rob Bishop down!

Update 4/17/17: Uh-oh folks, looks like Congressman Bishop will remain missing in action:
Update 4/18/17: Via Indivisible Ogden, we find out that the show still went on to a packed house, despite the absence of the the arrogant little party-pooper:

Utah Congressman and Koch Bothers Political Whore Rob Bishop Thinks Our Public Lands Are Worthless

If you live in, or love, the West because of the public lands, you are going to have to speak up in their defense in 2017

"Americans were outraged this week when House Republicans voted in secret to approve a rules change that would have prevented the independent Office of Congressional Ethics from investigating allegations of criminal behavior, allowed partisans to quietly shut down any ethics investigation, and barred disclosures of all this to the press.

What the public did not know was that the 43-page package of technical-seeming rule changes was filled with other, far more damaging things that clearly show why Republicans are so anxious to shut down the ethics office. Leading the pack of outrages was a provision written by Utah Representative Rob Bishop saying that transferring ownership of public lands belonging to all Americans “shall not be considered as providing new budget authority, decreasing revenues, increasing mandatory spending or increasing outlays.” What that means in English is that politicians like Mr. Bishop want it to be a matter of federal policy that there is no cost whatsoever to giving away our public lands for free—our national parks and monuments, national forests, wildlife refuges, and all the rest."

Read up, peeps!
"If you live in, or love, the West because of the public lands, you are going to have to speak up in their defense in 2017. The ethics office scandal temporarily delayed a vote on the package of rule changes, but Rob Bishop’s language is still in there, and it will be voted on soon."

Tell Rep. Bishop: Protect Our Public Lands – Not BIG OIL!

You know what to do.  Do it on the internet

Via Western Values Project:

Rep. Rob Bishop’s public lands plan puts special interests ahead of what’s best for Utah – no surprise, given that 93% of his campaign contributions come from out-of-state special interests like Big Oil. Don’t believe what he said at the Congressional field hearing in Bears Ears.

Tell Rep. Bishop: Protect our public lands – not BIG OIL!

You know what to do.  Do it on the internet.

Salt Lake Tribune Editorial: Feds Can’t Steal Land They Already Own

And one other thing:  Keep on voting Republican, Utah Sheeple

Most excellent Salt Lake Tribune editorial commentary this morning.  Here's the lede setrup:
How can you steal something you already own?
That's the Mad Tea Party question that occurs upon hearing that the Utah's Rep. Rob Bishop has predictably gone ballistic over President Obama's move to protect hundreds of thousands of acres of federal land by proclaiming new national monuments in Nevada, California and Texas.
The congressman condemned the action, calling it a "shameful power move, which makes states and citizens fearful that the federal government can invade at any time to seize more lands like bandits in the night."
Seize? Bandits?
All the land covered by the order is already federal property, property that the president is duty bound to leave to the next administration, and to future generations, in at least as healthy a state as it was when he found it.
Read the savvy full Trib editorial, folks:
We'll be patiently awaiting Rep. Bishop's Koch Bothers'-laden propaganda retort, we guess.

And one other thing:  Keep on voting Republican, Utah Sheeple.

Standard Examiner: 1st Congressional District Showdown - Updated

In the Fall, Fire them All!

Due to yesterday's "game-changing" news, wherein the most severe crackpot "haters" got their derrieres kicked to to curb, we have a couple of Sunday Standard-Examiner 2014 Utah General Election stories which got diverted to the back burner.  Here ya finally go, however folks.  Better late than never, we hope.

Check out these two most excellent Cathy McKitrick 2014 Utah General Election stories, which shine the spotlight on the two "major party" candidates (Rob Bishop and Donna McAleer) in the ongoing Utah Congressional District 1 race, based upon interviews with Standard-Examiner staff:
Blockbuster Top Question and Answer of the two-candidate series, in our never humble opinion?
Question: "What would you ask your opponent?"
Donna McAleer: “Do you really want this job, Congressman Bishop, because you seem quite bored and not engaged in delivering results for Utah."
Added Bonus 5:20 p.m.:  Check out Libertarian candidate  Craig Bowden's responses, which he graciously provided us earlier this afternoon, upon extremely short notice:
Our take with respect to Mr. Bowden's candidacy?  Keep an eye on this guy, as a viable alternative to the other three.

In connection with Rep. Bishop's extended time in Congress, we do believe that the feisty Ms. McAleer raises a salient point, which is artistically well-illustrated by Pat Bagley, the Trib's "Cartoonist on Residence." in this recent and totally boffo SL Trib "editorial cartoon," which pretty well captures Bishop's Congressional attitude, wethinks:

For our own part, we'll remind our readers of the ever-most important principle for which all "concerned" political wonks operate, those who are concerned with good government, that is:

Here are the web links to the other two (third-party) candidates whom the Standard inexpicably left outta the whole discussion, BTW:
Be sure to check them out too, despite the fact that the Standard refuses to admit that they even exist.

Just another helpul hint from yer old pal Rudi.

Climate Progress: House To Vote On Controversial ‘No More National Parks’ Policy - Updated

No connection with blind hatred of the Marxist Muslim Kenyan in the White House?

By: Patrick B.

Our very own couch potato congressman, Rob Bishop (R - Cheetos) has sponsored a bill to take away a 100 year old presidential prerogative to protect iconic American lands.
I'm sure it has nothing to do with visceral, blind hatred of the Marxist Muslim Kenyan in the White House.

Update 3/25/14 8:50 a.m.:  Pat Bagley now helpfully supplies this explanatory  graphic:

Update 3/27/14 8:55 a.m.: Thanks to this morning's Mark Saal story, we learn that Bishop's bill has cleared the U. S. House:
Our confident prediction? The bill will be dead on arrival in the U.S. Senate, not without providing, however, significant wing-nut ammo for Bishop's 2014 re-election bid.
