Inasmuch as it's again another tediously slow Emerald City news day, we thought we'd bring up an item which has been sitting on our back burner for almost a week. Over the course of the 4+ years we've been publishing Weber County Forum, we've discussed the role of bloggers vis-a-vis the traditional media many times. We broached the topic most recently here; and our readers can peruse a few of our earlier articles here, here, here and here.
In this connection, we'll provide a link to a most excellent article which appeared on Dan Schroeder's "Dan's Diary" blog last week, which drills right down to the local angle, and further analyzes how the roles of the "traditional news source" and the "blog" differ, right here in Emerald City:

Weber County Forum has the guts to take on the crooked Godfrey administration.
The Standard-Examiner doesn't.

So which news source are you going to trust?

Don't trust either unless what appears is backed by included evidence. This goes for the SE's editorials and op-ed pieces, and posts here on WCF [mine included].
What any news and public discussion outlet of any kind ought to embrace as its operating principle is this: Question authority. Always. Make what it claims stand up, when examined, on the evidence.
There are bumper stickers that say that " Question Authority!". WCF ought to sell them. So should the SE [after giving one to every new hire.]
Well... actually Curm... Bumper stickers with that basic message are actually already available online... and we do sell them through the Amazon.com site:

Back in the day in LA one of our mantras was: Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see.
Belief is the death of intelligence. One can live a complete life, without believing anything. I personally don't believe anything, but I have many suspicions.
So what "is" belief?
"Is," "is." "is" — the idiocy of the word haunts me. If it were abolished, human thought might begin to make sense. I don't know what anything "is"; I only know how it seems to me at this moment.
