Casper Star-Tribune: Casper Downtown Plans May Include Former Ogden Mayor Reprimanded by State Auditor

Didn't take John "Pureheart" Patterson long to get in hot water with the lumpencitizens of Casper, did it?

Tantalizing December 13, 2012 story from the Casper (Wyoming) Star Tribune, which we stumbled upon this morning whilst Googling.  Here's the lede:
The Downtown Development Authority’s current preference for development coordinator is a former mayor of Ogden, Utah, who was reprimanded by that state’s auditor for failing to comply with city and state laws.
Matthew Godfrey, current president of the Better City consulting group, served as mayor in Ogden from 1999 to 2011. John Patterson was Ogden’s chief administrative officer from 2005 to 2011, when he became Casper’s city manager.
In a report released last summer, the Utah State Auditor’s Office found the city administration failed to receive City Council approval for expenditures on three projects. City administration improperly spent $434,000 between 2007 and 2009 for an ice climbing tower, rail car renovation and river restoration projects, according to the report.
“We are concerned about the Administration’s attitude toward the importance of the City Council’s approval,” the document states. [Links added].

Here's the referenced Utah State Auditor's  August 18, 2011 report:
No surprises here, we guess.  It didn't take John "Pureheart" Patterson long to get in hot water with the lumpenctizens of Casper, did it?

Be sure to check out the Star-Trib's reader comments section, folks, where one Star-Trib reader sez, "Come on now, the citizens of Casper are not illiterate hicks. We even know about the Internet and we know how to use the search engine Google."

Looks like the cat's outta the bag, alright.

We'll keep ya'll all posted, of course, as this fascinating story develops.

I suppose it was just a matter of time before Patterson would find a way to hire Godfrey. Wonder what took him so long.

Patterson says, "I don’t know that report and I don’t know that investigation, but I
would tell you based upon my knowledge of Ogden, that that is
politically based and it’s only politics."

Yes, he never heard of the State Auditor's Report.

So he's either lying, or incompetent.

Of course Godfrey and Patterson will continue to scratch each others backs.  It's cronyism.  How else do people like that thrive?

Just look at the moronic Bush family.  Saudi and oil money flow in, and the Bushes launder it and make sure the Saudi's are looked after with the US military umbrella and have a decent image here in the US.  Why else would George Bush publicly french kiss the sickening king of Saudi Arabia?  George does it for the cameras.  But we will have to offer $50 for a picture of Godfrey and Patterson in a men's room with their pants off.

Yes, you can almost feel the "buzz" coming from Casper, Wyoming from here.  Godfrey and Patterson will put that place on the map.  (Bankruptcy will come later.)

Wow I just read the comment section from the Wyoming newspaper.  It reads like the Weber County Forum did when Godfrey was here  Funny how things here have quieted down and are stinking up in Casper!

And just like here, the locals see what is going on - they are not stupid either.

Ogden's recent history is repeating in Casper.

If you want to know what kind of person Patterson is, spend five minutes with him.  If your creep sensor doesn't go off then it is broken.

What is doing in Casper to help select a Rodeo Queen? Any plans to hire the Geigers?

More like 2002. http://www.deseretnews.com/article/950853/Ogden-is-hiring-ex-West-Valley-manager.html?pg=all

We told them so.  West Valley City, Ogden, now Casper.....that Patterson guy is a prize that keeps on giving and taking wherever he goes.  Now his little buddy Gilligan is getting into the act after being so successful fleecing others after being put out of office.  I still say they should be sitting behind bars for improper acts and lack of any ethics.

I am from Casper and come Tuesday he will probably get his way. But come January with a new council Things are going to change for him. the really sick part of all this is we lost a lot of good and honest city employees who resigned instead going along with his unethical approach to city government.

Happy as the citizens of Ogden City are to be rid of Patterson and Godfrey, we look with sympathy to the good folks of  Casper and other cities who're now being forced to deal with these two cunning, big government schemers.

I am not impressed with either Godfrey or Patterson. We will not stop fighting until they are both gone from our community. We take pride in our community and these two are not worthy of our town either. Please keep reporting on this. Our council meeting is on Tuesday and we are going to fight a lot of issues that pertain to these two boys. I am researching information on downtown development (with pictures) from Ogden. I am primarily interested in tree planting, bike systems, convention centers, and data centers. If you can direct me to some great pictures I would appreciate it. Please email me at moore4ward2@yahoo.com.

I was the Construction Manager in Engineering for Ogden City and resigned for much that same reason.  Two crooks and more who follow them.  Hold them accountable, we didn't.

Thanks for chiming in, Moore.  For starters, Weber County Forum will now be closely following this story, of course, since it concerns two of the most skilled con men (in our never humble opinion) who ever scammed Ogden City. And given Ogden's (shall we say)  "colorful history,"  that's saying quite a lot.

Yesiree, we'll be carefully following and reporting on this Casper, WY story as it develops.

As to the other material which you requested, I'll be in touch with you via your private email addy, shortly, to see if we can fine tune the kinda info you're looking for.

Thanks again for chiming in!

Note to our ever-gentle WCF readers:

We encourage you all to take up Moore's invitation.

Is this  the way to thank Wyoming? They allow the people of Utah to vist and buy cut rate liquor and fireworks and we give them John Patterson and possibily Matthew Godfrey.

You should read it from today! go to casper star tribune and look at today's article on the council adopting the 2013 strategic plan. It was only a 2 paragraph article, but the comment section from our community is full of "love" for patterson.

rudizink said...

Thanks for the update, JM!  As you can see, I've modified your post, to insert the Star-Tribune article link to which you refer.  Needless to say, you good folks of Casper have your work cut out for you, as the corporo-fascist greedheads of Casper, WY gather together to insert their fat, pigggish snouts into the public trough.

No doubt about it, BR.  Wyoming is getting the raw end of the deal.

Hoping Casper residents will be more involved and expect more transparency from Council and their EMPLOYEES!
Google "decline in convention centers" so we don't waste taxpayer dollars.

First, Patterson said he was not aware of any reports or audits. then, he said, the reports were spurious and politically motivated. So, the reports he does not know of, would be spurious and politically motivated, had he heard of them. Casper better open their eyes. Thank you Ogden, for trying to keep us informed...
