Vietnam Replica Wall Arrival Kicks Off Flag Day Patriotic Celebration

"Old Gloryous” Flag Day celebration runs in Ogden through Sunday

Just to get the ball rolling this morning, we'd like to direct our readers' attention to today's Charlie Trentelman article, announcing a U.S. veteran-oriented series of events which will run at the Newgate Mall between now and Sunday. Mr. Trentelman's lead paragraphs provide the gist:

OGDEN — A replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C., will come to Utah today, escorted by several hundred motorcyclists as it moves down Interstate 84 and into Ogden.
Called “The Wall That Heals,” the traveling memorial is half as big as the original in Washington, D.C., which makes it nearly the length of a football field.
Engraved on it are the names of the 58,253 Americans killed in the Vietnam War.
Several versions of the Vietnam Memorial owned by various organizations are touring the country.
This one is sponsored by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, created by Congress to build and maintain the original memorial.
The replica is being brought to Ogden by Post 1481 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The last two years at Newgate Mall, the post has coordinated an “Old Gloryous” celebration for Flag Day, and the wall visit is part of that.

The "Wall Replica" will be arriving in Ogden this afternoon, under motorcyle escort, along a route descibed in today's Std-Ex story.
