A pox on Boss Godfrey and his minions, who refuse to deal with with real data, and hang their "fieldhouse hats" on mindless OPTIMISM
Interesting new development today in the Nutcase Boss Godfrey Field House story.
The moronic Ogden CAO John Patterson attempts to rebut Professor Dan's most excellent initial Field House Study Independent Analysis with this mindless follow-up drivel:
Here's Dan's seemingly off the cuff retort to Mr. Patterson, skillfully issued within a few short minutes (we suppose) of Patterson's above-linked "hooray for optimism rant.":
Hooray for the Smart People of Ogden... especially Dan Schroeder!
And a pox on Blessed Boss Godfrey and his minions, who refuse to deal with with real data, and hang their hats (to the tune 0f $40 million plus taxpayer dollars) on mindless Godfreyite OPTIMISM.
Don't let the cat get your tongues, O Gentle Ones...
Who will be the first (or last) to chime in on this topic?

Awesome how effortlessly Dan Schroeder boxes John Patterson's cauliflower ears.
Schroeder for Mayor in 2011!
Just when I thought it was getting awfully quiet around the WCF in the past few days....quite the comedy....couple of observations...
1. Dan’s report is not worthy of consideration or comment...LMAO nice rebuttal..as Yul Brynner would say "so it is written so it shall be done"...is that the approach?
2. The consultant’s study is an
independent, realistic view of the project, not skewed by local political agendas. LMAO#2 for days...
3. First, the usage numbers, while realistic, are on the conservative side. LMAO #3....of course they are..just like the Junction and the 25th street project below Lincoln...
4. It is unusual for government to set aside funds for capital repair or replacement but a
prudent decision we support. LMAO. #4 Maybe for OC.....
HAY! If you loved Godfrey's Junction, which costs the taxpayers upwards of $3/4 Mil/yr., you're gonna reaLly love the crackpot Field House Boondoggle, which will truly bREAK THE TAXPAYER BANK!!
One more thought about this...
"The consultant’s study is an
independent, realistic view of the project, not skewed by local political agendas"...
Is that why the study was ramrodded without bidding and had to be in quickly so that it could be included in the RAMP application??? To repeat a quote Fletcher from "The Outlaw Josey Wales "don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining"
Thanks for your kind words, Rudi, but my "retort" was neither off the cuff nor issued within minutes. Mr. Patterson (aided by his boss) gave a verbal version of his rebuttal at Tuesday's city council meeting, after I spoke for my allotted three minutes during the public comments. I received the written version (which he had apparently already drafted) later that night. It then took me about 36 hours to compose my response.
Just finished reading Pureheart Patterson's missive and Dan's reply.
At bottom, it seems that Pureheart is annoyed that Dan used the numbers in the feasibility study, provided by the retroactively-waived-competitive-bidding-requirement chosen consultant, as the basis for much of his independent analysis. Which puts Pureheart in the uncomfortable position in his reply of having to raise doubts about the numbers provided by the administration's very own consultant.
And the beat goes on....
It also looks like it will be closed on Sunday since pure heart Patterson said it is based on being open only 300 days a year.
Again they bring their Sunday closing of public facilities into play when most everyone is off work. How can we attract folks from out of town to stay in Ogden for a weekend when they close up shop on Sunday.
Good job Dan on again bringing rational data into the conversation.
Jeff: No, the 300 days was for the tennis courts only, because that space is supposed to double as exhibit space for large conferences. The consultants are recommending that the Fieldhouse be open 360 days per year, and their projections are based on that assumption.
Rotsa ruck getting more peeps from SLC area on Sunday as it is not running those days....so anyone that wants to come on a Saturday night can't get home on Sunday...
"It" meaning Frontrunner, right, ND?
Right clarify...
There Dan goes again - sparring with mental midgets. Or is it PureHeart Patterson stupidly sparring with intellectual giants? Something like that anyway.
Great spectator sport in any event.
The thing I find most entertaining is the pure unadulterated and disingenuous way that Pureheart blatantly distorts the facts and figures. I sure hope the so called "decision makers" who will have to approve of this monster are not as stupid and dishonest as Godfrey and his stooge Pureheart.
It's so easy to be optimistic with your head in the sand when one is gambling $40 million of someone elses money....money that even they don't have.
I find this response from Mr. Patterson both churlish and speculative. Certainly not something I would expect from the Chief Administrative Officer of a city the size of Ogden. If this project is sound and the smart thing to do, it seems that the city administration could and should put forth a better and more fact based argument for it than this.
So John Patterson says,
"Dan’s report is not worthy of consideration or comment."
Yet, he spends three pages doing just that, and spoke to the city council about it as well.
So it appears that John Patterson's actions say one thing, and his words say another.
What else is new?
Danny....quite ironic isn't it....quite hilarious actually and right on target!
What will be the next salvo from the 9th floor?
ND:
As Ogden residents I guess we must "endeavor to persevere".
As for Godfrey and Patterson, "to hell with them fellas, buzzards gotta eat, same as worms."
The entire complex is being planned by a group of delusional Mormon Millennialists, who have prayed about the second coming, and in their visions see the complex being used to the nines; once the Constitution Hangs By A Thread, and everyone with a temple recommend flocks to Utah.
City planning should not be based on projected a 100% occupancy rate, whether the Magic Hat says so or not.
Where are the rational adults in all of this?
KB
The rational adults left on the 3:10 to Yuma a few years ago when Godfrey and his gang of six sleazily slid the Junktion financing past the city residents during a lame duck session of the city council.
Thank you, Dan, for both documents you provided. They are very clear, give us excellent data to consider, and no nonsense belittling to dilute the issues.
We need people with the thought processes )that you show in these reports) to be administering to our city. But instead, we have the complete opposite. And it is costly.
