A Straightforward Editorial Screed From Charlie Daniels

Charlie D. doesn't know how everybody else feels about it, but he evidently believes Hispanic people in this country, legally or illegally, made a huge public relations mistake with their recent demonstrations

One of our most respected Weber County Forum readers sent us this via email; and yes, we've already
checked it out with Snopes; and we therefore believe this is legit. Inasmuch as very many of our readers seem interested in discussing the "illegal immigration" situation, here we go. We'll therefore let this article serve as this afternoon's WCF Immigration Discussion Launching Pad:

Charlie Daniels "Mexican Standoff" Editorial

By: Charlie Daniels

I don't know how everybody else feels about it, but to me I think Hispanic people in this country, legally or illegally, made a huge public relations mistake with their recent demonstrations.

I don't blame anybody in the world for wanting to come to the United States of America, as it is a truly wonderful place.

But when the first thing you do when you set foot on American soil is illegal it is flat out wrong and I don't care how many lala land left heads come out of the woodwork and start trying to give me sensitivity lessons.

I don't need sensitivity lessons, in fact I don't have any-thing against Mexicans! I just have something against criminals and anybody who comes into this country illegally is a criminal and if you don't believe it try coming into America from a foreign country without a passport and see how far you get. What disturbs me about the demonstrations is that it's tanta-mount to saying, "I am going to come into your country even if it means breaking your laws and there's nothing you can do about it."

It's an "in your face" action and speaking just for me, I don't like it one little bit and if there were a half dozen pairs of gonads in Washington bigger than English peas it wouldn't be happening.

Where are you, you bunch of lily livered, pantywaist, forked tongued, sorry excuses for defenders of The Constitution? Have you been drinking the water out of the Potomac again? And even if you pass a bill on immigration it will probably be so pork laden and watered down that it won't mean anything anyway Besides, what good is another law going to do when you won't enforce the ones on the books now?

And what ever happened to the polls, guys? I thought you folks were the quintessential finger wetters. Well you sure ain't paying any attention to the polls this time because somewhere around eighty percent of Americans want some thing done about this mess, and mess it is and getting bigger everyday.

This is no longer a problem, it is a dilemma and headed for being a tragedy. Do you honestly think that what happened in France with the Muslims can't happen here when the businesses who hire these people finally run out of jobs and a few million disillusioned Hispanics take to the streets?

If you, Mr. President, Congressmen and Senators, knuckle under on this and refuse to do something meaningful it means that you care nothing for the kind of country your children and grand-children will inherit. But I guess that doesn't matter as long as you get re-elected. Shame on you. One of the big problems in America today is that if you have the nerve to say anything derogatory about any group of people (except Christians) you are going to be screamed at by the media and called a racist, a bigot and anything else they can think of to call you

Well I've been pounded by the media before and I'm still rockin' and rollin' and when it comes to speaking the truth I fear not. And the truth is that the gutless, gonadless, milksop politicians are just about to sell out the United States of America because they don't have the intestinal fortitude (huevos) to stand up to face reality.

And reality is that we would never allow any other group of people to have 12 million illegal in this country and turn around and say, "Oh it's ok, ya'll can stay here if you'll just allow us to slap your wrist."

And I know that some of you who read this column are saying "Well what's wrong with that?" I'll tell you what's wrong with it. These people could be from Mars as far as we know. We don't know who they are, where they are or what they're up to and the way the Congress is going we're not going to.

Does this make sense? Labor force you say? We already subsidize corporate agriculture as it is, must we subsidize their labor as well? If these people were from Haiti would we be so fast to turn a blind eye to them or if they were from Somalia or Afghanistan ? I think not.

All the media shows us are pictures of hard working Hispanics who have crossed the border just to try to better their life. They don't show you pictures of the Feds rounding up members of MS 13, the violent gang who came across the same way the decent folks did. They don't tell you about the living conditions of the Mexican illegal some fat cat hired to pick his crop.

I want to make two predictions.

No. 1: This situation is going to grow and fester until it erupts in violence on our streets while the wimps in Washington drag their toes in the dirt and try to figure how many tons of political hay they can make to the acre.

No 2: Somebody is going to cross that border with some kind of weapon of mass destruction and set it off in a major American city after which there will be a backlash such as this country has never experienced and the Capitol building in Washington will probably tilt as Congressmen and Senators rush to the other side of the issue.

I don't know about you but I would love to see just one major politician stand up and say, "I don't care who I make mad and I don't care how many votes I lose, this is a desperate situation and I'm going to lead the fight to get it straightened out." I don't blame anybody for wanting to come to America, but if you don't respect our immigration laws why should you respect any others? And by the way, this is America and our flag has stars and stripes. Please get that other one out of my face.

(That's how you do it, son.)

Let's just say we're publishing this article with great trepidatiom, people. So please show your good manners and play nice.

(This message has been brought to you by GEICO, btw.)

I agree with Mr. Daniels thoughts in this editorial, 100%.

I watched Charlie play with the Outlaws and Molly Hatchet back in the day.
Here he is sayin' the same thing my dad said 35 years ago, when my dad saw one community after another turn into a Hispanic Ghetto, pushing through Los Angeles unchecked.

Caveat: I am perhaps the most Liberal Person for 300 miles in all directions, `cept on gun laws; I am also perhaps one of the most Law Abiding.

I want this problem solved using US Troops, National Guard, Police, Citizen Patrols, Militia, and Constitutional Amendments.

I have already spoken directly with Mr. Obama about this, and he mostly agrees. He just does not want to ID Implant everyone to accomplish it. To solve the problem might take a very drastic State of Emergency Proclamation.

And, I am all for that as well.

Charlie is right on! My grandparents didn't just pop in over the border from Europe...and they didn't get any special treatment because they couldn't speak English...THEY LEARNED IT! They became American's the old fashioned way...LEGALLY! None of the loafers in DC are going to do a thing...just like they are not doing a thing to the crooks on Wall Street...the foxes have been in the henhouse too long for that to happen....look at this whole Goldman Sachs mess...it's is nothing more than a show....Greenspan, Paulson, Turbo Tax Timmy and the whole gang knew fully well what bubble they were creating. Where do I push 1 for German, 2 for Polish, 3 for French, 4 for Italian, 5 for Chinese?

Mexico's illegals laws tougher than Arizona's

I didn't read the whole editorial, but yeah.

Mexicans, this is not your country. I understand why you'd want it to be, but wanting is no justification for taking.

If that offends, I don't care. In this country, I get to have my own opinion.

And finally, if you are Mexican and here illegally, get out.

Just so people don't think I'm racist (but then again, maybe I am) here's a great article from a great black guy, darkie, jigger, coon, colored, or whatever folks who obsess over race, call Afros these days.

What I call him is one smart cookie, Reggie Middleton. Take it from me, a cracker Mormon.

You can see that all this talk of recovery hasn't even taken us back to where we were two years ago. See Reggie's first chart. Some recovery.

We're playing a game of musical chairs with the Feds supplying the music....(money)...when that runs out (borrowing more like it)

BOOM!

This ridiculous deficit spending is killing this country....it keeps up at this pace and we won't have to worry about peeps crossing over our borders...we won't exist as a country.

i watch the illegals on Wall getting picked up by fat white business owners driving brand new diesel dodge ram pickups, every morning. You know, those supposed Republicans who would be the first to say they hate mexicans, are the first to line up to give them money. Everyone knows business owners are mostly republicans, and everyone knows illegals are mostly employed by business owners. Bunch of stinkin hypocrytes, every damn one of them.

So what to do about it? Where are the suggested fixes or the proposed solutions?

Google Eisenhower and "Operation Wetback" (ya think THAT public program name would pass the PC folks?). Also see what Hoover and "Give'em Hell Harry (Truman) also did with illegals to make room for returning soldiers to have a job.

Errr, what is the unemployment rate? In Arizona (9.8 %) and the number of illegals employed in Ariz. (9.7%) And how many of Ariz. law enforcement are Hispanic?

And how many of our Congressmen support or would support legislation the stop "Anchor babies"?

And what about how the MSM is totally propangandizing the Arizona new law? Will anyone of us hold the MSM to account for their lies on behalf of the radical left? How bout it, all you GOP haters out there?

Tell us all about how this is all Reagan and Bush's fault. And how Godfrey is also somehow complicent in this illegal conspiracy.

Surely there are a few smart enough out there having benefited by our paying for college tuition of illegal immigrant's children...

Call me all the names you like. But Charlie Daniels is correct about the problems - just short on solutions...me thinks.

Gotta go tilt at some more windmills put up by our Latin brothers, while the women are having endless anchor baby US citizens with us paying the tab at the hospitals.

Foos....get a grip...there are bums on both sides of the aisle. The problem is the only care about themselves and getting re-elected.

Have you ever owned a business? Have you ever provided jobs, healthcare, benefits for anyone or are you just content with the people providing the taxes to support loafers? You must either work for the government or are suckling off it.

ball said...

Yep, another Republican business owner, claiming some sort of sainthood for running a business.
Sorry. I don't buy into your lie, I don't worship at the feet of capital.

Fact: business owners tend to be Republican.
Fact: Business owners created the illegal problem through unlawful hiring practices.
Fact: Republicans are mostly to blame for illegal immigration.

nicely done said...

Show the facts please... Back it up or shut it up. Using your logic does that mean most demos are slugs? I don't think so. I've sent my representatives plenty of letters and phones calls decrying bailouts of companies that were irresponsible and should not be too big to fail and corrupt practices being overlooked. Crooks are crooks and the come from both sides....as do respectable and honest business people.

You must either be a government loafer or a suckler. The objectivity here is pathetic.

When oranges are five bucks each and lettuce is equally expensive all you bigoted racists will long for those brown faces when your enjoying your plain bacon sandwiches that will be twenty bucks because there aint no Mexicans working in the slaughter houses for minimum wage.

It is those hated Mexicans that keep all you dumb ass gringos fat and happy on the cheap!

RE: Jesus Jones
I think that you’re right that produce, fruit and even lawn care costs might go up. I also know that if the illegal alien problem is addressed, the price of methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine will also go up substantially. I know that there will be less murder victims, rape victims, less DUIs, less drug addicts and less identity theft. Healthcare cost will go down as will the taxes we pay for supporting illegal aliens on welfare.
Here are some more facts: In 2009 the Weber/Morgan Narcotics Strike Force arrested 38 illegal aliens, which represented approximately 8% of the total arrests made during that time period. These 38 illegal aliens had in their possession 82% of the total drug seized in that year. That’s about 1.5 pounds of heroin, several pounds of cocaine and over 25 pounds of methamphetamine. How many addicts do those drugs represent? The vast flow f drugs into Weber County by illegal aliens has kept the price low and the opportunity for first time use and addiction high. This equals to more addicts and the crime that comes with it.
42% of all illegal aliens are on at least one type of welfare- 75% of the uninsured in the US are illegal aliens- 33% of the prison population in the US are illegal aliens.

I guess given the alternative, I would be happy to pay $5 for an orange and have a plain bacon sandwich. Although I think with 10% unemployment, I think that you might find a citizen who would be willing to have those jobs.

I noticed two things about Mr. Daniels' rant:

1. He offered no solutions, just a rant that "the government" ought to do something. What it should do to deal with the estimated 11 million illegals here now he doesn't say. "Send them all back" is a goal, but not a plan for achieving it. If Mr. Daniels has a practical solution likely to achieve its goals without creating more problems than it solves, and one whose cost the public will accept, I'm ready to listen. If anyone has such a plan, I'm ready to listen. So far, no one seems to have offered one. Illegal immigration is a serious problem for several of the reason's Mr. Daniels suggests. And his complaint about Congress and presidents [through several administrations, Democratic and Republican] watering down "reforms" to accommodate big contributors [for example, the agricultural industry which hired -- and hires --- many illegals] is right on target. But, again, rants aside, what we need is a workable solution to the problem. Mr. Daniels offers none.

2. Taking Mr. Daniel's seriously becomes difficult when, mid-column, he drops in nonsense like this: "One of the big problems in America today is that if you have the nerve to say anything derogatory about any group of people (except Christians) you are going to be screamed at by the media and called a racist, a bigot and anything else they can think of to call you."

Can't help wondering if Mr. Daniels spends much time dwelling in that kind of paranoia, how reliably founded his other comments are.

Look at these facts and explain why that something should not be done about illegal aliens.

Take the money wasted locking up Americans in the War on Drugs, and re-commit it to a War On Mexicans.
Simple.

WON. If it is good enough for your pot-head daughter at the University, it is good enough for Pablo and Maria down at the mexican market.

WON Now!

Hey lets not confuse the conversation with facts.... :)

As far as Mr. Daniels offering solutions I believe he did....He's busting the loafers in DC to actually enforce the laws we already have! What a concept! Now if the Feds had done the same thing prior to the economic meltdown we wouldn't be in half the shape we are now either.
Heaven forbid we call a spade a spade and not be PC....now they call Mideast terrorists "people who want to do us harm".

This Daniels buffoon apparently has eaten too many Big Macs that are made so cheaply by this Mexican hoard he is so paranoid about. The thing that amazes me about his remarks is that any intelligent person anywhere would put any stock at all into what the dick head said.

Maybe if we eliminated all the cheap Mexican labor and made cheap food more expensive all the fat asses (the majority of the US population) would lose some weight and take a burden off the medical system. Kind of kill two birds with one stone so to speak. Get rid of all the beaners and fatsos with one grand move! We can of course group in all the uglies as well, cause we just know they are up to no good anyway. That will leave just us slim and pretty people to enjoy the great American dream! Sure would be a lot better country fer sure.

As to the statistics bandied about, including the poster above, well it brings to mind the old saying: "There are lies, damned lies and then there are Statistics" I doubt if there is really any validity to the above quoted statistics. They most likely came from the same source as those recently quoted by that complete idiot Wimmer when he said, amongst other absurdities, that 80% of the murders in SLC were caused by illegals from Mexico. The Chief of Police in SLC immediately refuted that and showed how the assertion was completely and disingenuously manufactured by this icon of the tin hat crowd.

As long as the real problems are ignored and the spot light is on all Mexicans, then the real culprits, some of who are indeed here illegally, will be able to continue their criminal conduct. There must be a rational way of separating the wheat from the chaff - the criminal illegal element from the hard working ones who are such an important element in the US economy.

It appears that most rational and intelligent police officials are against the draconian Arizona law. That should say something on the issue, unless of course we only want to believe in the irrational, ignorant and grandstanding cops who are milking the issue. Who you gonna believe, Salt Lake's Chief of Police or our own law breaking and moronic Chief Greiner?

nicely done said...

Pretty simple question. We already have a system to come into this country legally...why do we have to put up with and enable those that come in illegally? Don't give me the $5 organge routine.

'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language.. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.'

Bullshit! You have no clue. Just your usual cynical crap without any evidence nor facts to back you up like always.

Anyone who has been outside of Utah or knows anyone living in Arizona knows what the real situation is. And if Oz ever gets his head out of his ass and taking his news from MSNBC he might actually have something real to say for a change.

Hmmm....what timing that I just recieved this....thought it interesting to the chat here...

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity
by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

What one person receives without working for,
another person must work for without receiving.

The government cannot give to anybody anything
that the government does not first take from somebody else.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work
because the other half is going to take care of them,
then the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work
because somebody else is going to get what they work for.

That my dear friend,
is the beginning of the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.

How self delusional can you get labeling yourself with a handle that is at complete odds with who you really are - a sorry ass excuse of a man sitting in your yard in your valley hamlet sucking up all the tin hat noise you can from FOX radio, keenly studying every off the wall conspiracy theory out there, hating in your bigoted way a black man who has achieved far more than you could ever hope to and wallowing in the hate filled Hannity echo chamber that passes for a brain in your otherwise empty skull. You really are a pathetic excuse for a rational human being. You may or may not have been something in the long ago past, but now you are nothing but an aging and angry old crank who has alienated most every one you know or come into contact with. Every one in the Valley who knows you thinks of you as a bore and an insufferable ass hole. Congratulations loser, you have achieved your full potential.
