End of Year Ruminations

A couple of notable web stories for your enlightenment, enjoyment and mirth, as we thankfully also watch our Boss Godfrey Countdown clock tick down to ZERO minutes

Okay, well anyway, here's more on the original topic...
(Don't blow this one off, People. It's actually pretty danged good.)

Here's a little something for people with short attention spans:

Off Topic:  Sun Bowl

 That was one ugly win.
But, as they say, a dubya is a dubya.

My favorite story of 2011?

Breaking: Boss Godfrey's NOT Running Again

LOL, Curm.  As a proud UofU alum, I'll just say that today's Sun Bowl victory was one of the most exciting UofU football contests I've ever witnessed.  A true Cindarella story, for sure.

It would have been far less exiting, however, if Utah actually had a "real" quarterback, of course.

Speaking of Cindarella stories, my heart goes out to UofU quarterback Jon Hays, who, three months ago, was the starting quarterback for a backwater division II team that suddenly killed its football program.  Three months later, he's the starting/winning quarterback for a PAC-12 ("Conference of Champions") team, which finishes the season with an 8-5 PAC-12 record, the only PAC-12 team in fact which has won a bowl game (so far at least) in the post-season.

What city department heads serve at the pleasure of the mayor?

ALL of them, BR.  The Mayor appoints them, and once appointed, they serve after the "advice and consent" of the City Council, which is a mere formality.

The REAL question I think is whether our new mayor can clean house and eliminate Godfrey's accumulation of Ogden Departmental  "Deadwood."

Mike Caldwell an do THAT without Council approval, of course.

Our view?  He can start out by cleaning house with Ogden's bloated "Economic Development Department."

By itself, that'll save Ogden City $millions...
