Big Ogden City Mayoral Election Debate Tonite! - Updated

Update: Gov. Gary Herbert makes a surprise visit

Hiya, Folks! We'll let yesterday's SE story serve as the most recent reminder of tonight's (8/30/11) Ogden service club-sponsored 2011 Ogden City Election Mayoral Debate event.

As per usual, we'll leave our lower comments section open, and dedicate this thread to anyone who'd like to post comments now, or during or after tonight's debate.

Update 8/31/11 5:10 a.m.: The Standard-Examiner carries a post-debate story this morning, which includes a report that Governor Gary Herbert "made a surprise visit during the packed event in the Ben Lomond Suites Ballroom":

Was Le Wagner wearing his kneepads? Or did he leave them at home since Godfrey wasn't there.

Wasn't able to attend the debate, but heard it was another impressive show for Caldwell.  Heard "Le Wagner" as as Miguel so entertainingly puts it, didn't have the best night...nor did many of the others.  Would love some WCF posters that were there to chime in with their thoughts!

Hope this one was well-attended too, and largely by people who didn't attend the Ogden Ethics sponsored one.   Be interested to see the write up on it tomorrow. Wonder if anyone taped it and will make it available on line?

It was well attended.  Can't say what the audience overlap of the two evernts was though.  All the candidates have their individual areas of strength and along this line, had an interesting conversation with Neil and Debbie Hansen about how interesting it might be to have brain storming sessions with all of them together building on the ideas of each other and see what ideas and solutions they might, as a group, come up with.  Great idea and very refreshing to talk to someone who sees the world cooperatively, collaboratively and all inclusively rather than the me, me, me, look at me, It's all about me and I'm so great, exhibition that we have been so graced with.

Please note that the S-E article contains links (in the paragraph that lists the candidates' names) to new pages for each candidate, listing the candidate's responses to a short questionnaire. Among other things, the questions ask the candidate's opinions of Godfrey, the streetcar, business contributions, and the blimp.

Come on Treetopper, give the poor bastard a break.
According to his website he claims to be an electrician, maybe you can hire him for some part time work.

If you don't beleive he can complete this simple task then maybe you can show him how to sell a piece of property.

If your answer to this too is no then let's pitch in to buy this loser a bus pass back to california so he can complete his GED.

cya in the funnies? I doubt it, more like cya in the WIC line at smith's using food stamps holding his "made in ogden" baby

Umm me thinks that Slick Steve will leave our nice city...It's hard to imagine that he seems to have created issues with literally every person who has spent more than 5 minutes with him, but it appears to be the case. And we a re talking about scores and scores of people. Really, I think there might be medication for that. Into political and social  Oblivion he goes.
