Schwebke’s article in the Standard Examiner this morning tells about Godfrey’s denial of trying to sell the Marshall White Center or turn it over to an organization to manage it. Here's the lede:
OGDEN — Mayor Matthew Godfrey assured several concerned Marshall White Community Center patrons Tuesday night the city has no plans to close the facility.Schwebke reports that “several concerned Marshall White Community Center patrons” were assured there were no plans to unload the Marshall White Center. The middle section of the Council chambers was filled by these “concerned patrons” last night; and close to a dozen of them spoke in defense of the Center. To me that is more than “several.” Some gave testimony as to how the “water aerobics” program had helped them and how much they depended on it. One gentleman from Weber Human Services told how he had taken some mentally ill people to the Center and how much it helped them and he really depends on it to help those with whom he works. Others spoke highly of the other programs for youth to seniors and all mentioned that it was the ONLY community center in Ogden or any of the surrounding communities and a number of the patrons are from surrounding communities bringing their shopping dollars to Ogden.
“Rest assured, there is no conspiracy to shut the doors of the Marshall White Center,” Godfrey said during a city council meeting.
However, Marion H. Duffy, an Ogden resident, told the Standard-Examiner that City Councilman Jesse Garcia presented a different picture of the Marshall White Community Center’s future when he met with her and about a dozen of the center’s patrons Monday.
Garcia said he told the patrons its his understanding that negotiations are under way by the city’s administration to turn the Marshall White Community Center over to another agency.
The city council asked the administration in a meeting more than month ago about repairs to the boiler at the Marshall White Community Center, at which time John Patterson, the city’s chief administrative officer, indicated negotiations are taking place with another agency to run the facility, said Garcia.
Patterson was not in attendance at Tuesday night’s city council meeting to offer an explanation regarding the purported conversation. [Emphasis added].
Godfrey hasn’t changed his tune one half note, and is just as devious as ever! The only thing that has changed is that more people now are more aware of his lies and deceit. We have also learned that we need to keep our eyes on him every second and have hundreds of ears listening throughout the city, since he does everything behind the scenes, in spite of his claims that he would tell those patrons, the press and the Council if he ever did anything . I wonder how long he thinks people will fall for his lies!

Whats new? Until the council takes him to task, the lies, deciet, and scandals will continue.
By the way, I want to borrow the Salomon Center to do a little fund raiser to promote Ogden, any one interested in joining me?
As a condition of closing the Marshall White Center all current patrons should get free access to Golds Gym since the city is subsidizing their lease payments.
As a taxpayer I can't understand how they can immediately repair the Flowrider for a private business but stall fixing the Marshall White Boiler run by the city.
We need city employees that still have a moral obligation to the citizens to speak out when they overhear these backdoor deals.
In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.
I must be king, because everyone else is blind, at least at the paper.
Godfrey NEVER ADDRESSES THE ISSUE.
He says "Rest assured, there is no conspiracy to shut the doors of the Marshall White Center."
1. He doesn't figure it's a "conspiracy."
2. Let alone one to "shut the doors."
Now, he may have "plans" to "junk" the facility, but no "conspiracy" to "shut the doors."
See? In his mind he's not lying, even as his entire intention is to deceive.
Another quote, he says, "There are no immediate plans to turn the center over to another organization."
Of course not, to be "immediate", it would mean, "immediately" like, "tonight." He doesn't plan to do it "tonight," so it isn't lying. The word "immediate" is what will get him past the gatekeepers of Heaven.
See you at the temple, Matt.
Hey Schwebke, when you gonna learn how to cross question this LIAR???
I just mailed my monthly payment to Comcast cable. What do I get in return for the city franchise fee? Do I get a opportunity to place a show on channel 17? Am I allowed to make a video presentation to play on the city owned channel? Who controls content on channel 17? Does it represent the various views of Ogden citizens or only the ones who agree with the mayor? I hoped that it would be more of a public access station. But I could be wrong, maybe most people enjoy watching the inane shows like "crowd surfing" or endless replays of Matthew Godfrey promotional videos. Come on, Matthew, give all the citizens of Ogden a chance to express their opinions on a media outlet that citizens pay for with their comcast fees and tax dollars. I am certain that there are many talented articulate people who could make a interesting reply/counterpoint to the views you are expressing on MY channel.
This was not one of Mr. Schwebke's best ledes. Here it is:
Mayor Matthew Godfrey assured several concerned Marshall White Community Center patrons Tuesday night the city has no plans to close the facility. "Rest assured, there is no conspiracy to shut the doors of the Marshall White Center," Godfrey said during a city council meeting.
Followed by this :
However, Marion H. Duffy, an Ogden resident, told the Standard-Examiner that City Councilman Jesse Garcia presented a different picture of the Marshall White Community Center's future when he met with her and about a dozen of the center's patrons Monday. Garcia said he told the patrons its his understanding that negotiations are under way by the city's administration to turn the Marshall White Community Center over to another agency.
Garcia did present a "different picture" of the Center's future, but it did not contradict the Mayor's denial that he has closing it in mind. "Leasing to another agency to operate" is not a synonym for "closing the MW Center." I don't blame the Center's users for being concerned about the Mayor's intentions, but Garcia's information did not contradict what Hizzonah said.
At the end of the article, there's this though: "Godfrey said there are no immediate plans to turn the center over to another organization, but he indicated he would like to work with other groups, like Ogden Weber Community Action Partnership, to better utilize the facility."
No immediate plans. I wish someone had asked the Mayor what time period going forward from Tuesday night is covered by his term no "immediate" plans.
YOU NEED TO STORE SOME WATER TO USE DURING SHUT OFF! I'm not sure if the residents of the east bench from 9th Street to 36th Street have been told that the culinary water will be turned off for a short period either tomorrow Thursday April 30th or Friday, May 1st. I hope that they did because I just saw the note about the shut off that I'd taken down at one of our past meetings.
I suggest you have some water stored for washing and some for drinking and cooking. Then the shut off won't affect you.
Danny, nice dissemination of lying little matty's speach and reasoning. You've heard him before?
Don't all pathelogical liars incorporate a "qualifier" in their prevarications? In the past lying little matty didn't bother, he'd just flat out lie. He must be taking an advanced learn at home study course titled " sophistry and self deceit".
