Standard-Examiner: Ogden Airport Manager Fired, Replaced by Former Police Chief Jon Greiner

Submit your job apps without delay, folks, so former top-cop Greiner can get back to what he does best, i.e., playing golf.

Thanks to a flurry of tips from a flurry of sharp-eyed and alert Weber County Forum readers, we'd like to direct your attention to this blockbuster news from the Standard-Examiner:
OGDEN — Ogden-Hinckley Airport manager Royal Eccles has been dismissed by the city and will be replaced by former Ogden Police Chief Jon Greiner.
On Tuesday, Ogden City Chief Administrative Officer Mark Johnson confirmed that Eccles had been let go, but said the city couldn’t comment further on the matter.
“We have decided to move in another direction and there is a change at the airport,” Johnson said.
Johnson said Greiner would take over the airport manager position on an interim basis, but was not sure how long the temporary period would last. [Links added].
You can zoom in to the full story here:
With a full 7.114 billion folks residing on this planet, it seems odd that the Caldwell would replace one featherbedded Boss Godfrey crony with yet another, dunnit?  Then again, taking into account our acute awareness of how things "work" in Ogden, maybe not.

Jon Greiner
For any folks who'd like to submit their application for permanent appointment to Eccles's former job, we link below the newly-opened Ogden City job listing, which lists, along with certain other airport-related technical prerequisites for new hiring (and we are not making this up), that "[w]hile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, walk and talk or hear":

They need a new copy editor. It doesn't much look like greiner would have been a "fit" for the position, given the KSAs listed.

Greiner has a security background (so to speak as an ex-cop). That seems to be an issue for some folks who work/use the airport frequently. Parking appears to be an issue as well. Pretty sure Greiner wrote his fair share of parking tickets so he understands (if nothing else) the revenue generation aspect of the issue as well as traffic flow/patterns etc. 2-3 years back I posted on WCF that he also had a tail number assigned to him out at the airport (kind of remember it being a multi-engine in the $300K+ price range) So he has a pilots license, understands the airport routine, has a security background, owns a plane and flys. From the outside it appears to make sense to select Greiner for the INTERIM position. What his PERMANANT selection will tell me in no uncertain terms is that 10 Speed Caldwell and Johnson don't have an ounce of situational awareness about how their public feels about certain topics/persons/people closely associated with Lord Gadfly. But mostly what it will tell me if he's selected on a perm basis is that they don't CARE how the public feels. In fact, some recent actions/events point in that direction already.

I wondered for a minute about the one that begins "Maintain mental capacity … "

Is the appointment of Jon Greiner truly a interim appointment or just the first step to making him permanent airport manager. When failed city council sandidate Royal Eccles was given the job many airport users complained. Of the 25 who applied for the job before Eccles appointment were any of the remaining 24 contacted about the job? It does appear that Mayor Caldwell is not seeking out other qualified applicants to fill city positions but just making appointments from the leftovers of the Godfrey administration.

What's next for Ogden City? Bringing back John Patterson.

would not surprise me a bit if that happened...

That is very scary indeed.

Fair assessment, but the job listing is posted already...so maybe there is hope....

Funny how things and people still remain the same in Ogden City, after The Boy Mayor has left the building. How many times can Greiner dip into the cash trough? Maybe he can hide those police surveillance drones in Hanger 51 out there? When will they ever learn?
