Although not exactly red meat news, for the sake of archival consistency, we'll link to this morning's Standard-Examiner story, which reports that Boss Godfrey has now selected a replacement from within Ogden City employee ranks to fill Keith Morey's now-vacated Community Development Manager slot:
OGDEN -- An Ogden municipal employee has been promoted to serve as the city's new community development manager. Here's this morning's full Std-Ex writeup, folks:
Jonny Ballard, who previously was the city's recreation division manager, was chosen over about 75 applicants for the community development post.
Ballard, who joined the city in July, has already begun his new job. His annual salary will increase from $80,000 to $85,000.[...]
Ballard is a native of Palmdale, Calif., and was a real estate developer before joining the city. He has a bachelor's degree in marketing from Regis University.
• Ballard promoted to manager position in OgdenWe gotta admit we know absolutely nothing about this guy, other than what appears in this morning's Scott Schwebke story. Perhaps a few of our well-connected city hall insider readers can help us fill in the blanks. It would be useful to develop a full fact sheet on Mr. Ballard for future reference, we think.
Please feel free to chime in on the above topic, or start up a conversation all your own.

Former "Real Estate" developer?
Hmmmmmmm, I wonder just what that says about this guy. Could this be a further sign of the mayor's intentions with any remaining open space in the city?
And why would any "real estate developer" worth his salt be working for the city in a salaried position?
You don't suppose that the mayor is up to something, do you?
I noticed this in the story when I read it in the dead tree edition this morning: Mr. Ballard's responsibilities will include "overseeing code enforcement."
Really?
In which case I have a suggestion for all members of the City Council, who must approve Mr. Ballard's appointment. Before doing so, they should ask him whether, if he's approved, he will enforce existing codes on the Lesham abandoned house properties downtown, and cite the owners [whoever they might be at this point --- I'm not sure anyone knows anymore outside of the Godfreyista Inner Sanctum] for any code violations? And, presuming he answers "yes," they should also ask for a time certain by which, under his direction, the properties will be inspected and the owners cited for violation, should any be found.
Just a sugesstion....
Hmmm... this is also interesting. according to this morning's SE story, Mr. Baallard graduated from Regis University, A private Jesuit college.
(Hint: that probably means that Ballard isn't an inbred MoMo).
That's all good, in my book.
Completely off-topic; but I think this is interesting:
Millionaire gives away fortune which made him miserable
Interesting twist on the "money is the root of all evil" theme.
WCF Lurker:
Being obscenely wealthy is something I think I could do well. Very well. All I need is the chance. I'd be so good at it. I know I would.
Ballard's appointment is a sign of the coming End of the World!
