Fine editorial in this morning's Standard-Examiner, ripping two out of three of Spinmeister Gary Herbert's HB477 "goals," identifying repeal as "the sole necessary step" and urging SE readers to "let their Top of Utah state senators know" that repeal is exactly what we want:
The SE cuts straight to the chase and helpfully supplies the names of those northern Utah Senators who'll be called upon to unravel this HB477 mess on Friday, so we'll reel them off here in live link form, for the convenience of those readers who'd like to do some lobbying this morning:
- Peter Knudson
- Allen Christensen
- Scott Jenkins
- Stuart Reid
- Jerry Stevenson
- Stuart Adams
- Dan Liljenquist
- Lyle W. Hillyard.

I swear every one of these guys is an LDS bishop, or a son of one.
What a tight knit little community we have here in NU.
Not that I have a problem with that, of course.
Just noting.
I wish they guys would quit making the rest of us good mormons look bad.
If you happen to contact Lyle Hillyard, one of the bill's sponsors, please ask him to read the bill (although this is probably something he should have done prior to being a sponsor) - there is an article in the SL Trib that quotes him as saying he wasn't aware that there was a State Records Committee (believe Lyle, they are mentioned several times in the bill, even though you should know they exist regardless). Unbelievable. Keep talking legislators, keep talking. No wonder why they want their records kept secret.
