Regular as clockwork, the calender has rolled on by one week since our last WSU Game Day article; and we're thus delighted to open up another article and discussion thread in that vein. Here's the pregame setup from this morning's Standard-Examiner:
• Mighty motivationWeber State University will be playing Sacramento State at home in Stewart Stadium this very afternoon. Kickoff is @ 1:30 p.m., to be exact. We can always hope, with a homecoming game going on, that otherwise distracted, but actual WSU students who are turned on by the "Homecoming Atmosphere" will rally up, to put themselves and their fannies and into stadium seats, and actually pack the stadium for at least a couple of quarters.
Once again we'll provide the internet links, for those local WSU fans who can't (for possibly implausible and logicly inexcuseable reasons) make it in person for this afternoon's game:
Check out the internet video version on Big Sky TEEVEE. Check it out. It really is very good.
For those who might be satisfied with classic radio audio, WSU Flagship KLO Radio is the ever-reliable "go-to place," of course.
We''l leave this article up for today's game comments. Don't hesitate to throw in your own two cents.
Final Score: WSU Wildcats 49; Sac State Hornets 10 = Homecoming Blowout.
Update 10/18/09 9:00 a.m. MT: Check out this morning's Std-Ex post-game writeups:
• Homecoming Bliss - Jason AsayAnd here's the post-game story from the perspective of the Hornets' home town newspaper, the Sacramento Bee:
• Halftime momentum pays off - Jason Asay
• I's Toone time at Weber St. - Jim Burton
• Hornets' winning streak is historyGreat to see our Wildcats hitting on all cylinders, no?

Thanks for your continuous support of Weber State Fooball, Rudi!
YAWN
Damn, it must be another Saturday in football season, Rudi's put up another sleep inducing article on the most mind numbing spectator activity in history. By doing so he is probably putting a big dent in Ogden's Valium sales!
Yay! Another non-football fan! Although it is my alma mater, WSU - I hope they win, but not interested in the game!
Aren't I terrible?
TLJ
people who like football should enlist in the Armed Forces. at least then they would get some respect for their clinging to sports activities that represent the infancy of mankind. battling over territory, ceremonially, while people cheer on the warfare. how 1952. football, ugh.
We're fully comnitted to supporting WSU football here at Weber County Forum, WSU football Booster Club...
Let pussie critics like "ozboy" and "Go Wildcats" be damned.
Go wildcats!
WSU 35; SSU 7 at the half.
"Critic"?
Ah contrare Mr. RudiZink, I am not a critic sir, I aam a social observer. I only point out a ritualistic hang over from another earier evolutionary age where a certain large percentage of a modern population will work out these early archaic tribal warfare rituals in mock combat pageants. Rituals like Football, Basketball, Soccer and most team sports - even Volleyball.
It is actually kind of interesting to observe these ritualists indulging in mass hysteria and excitation, as well as that "Thrill of victory" or "The agony of defeat"
Who needs real war when you can get your war ya ya's out this way?
"Ah contrare Mr. RudiZink, I am not a critic sir, I am a social observer."
Oh no you're not. What you really are is a spoilsport!
Completed pass from Higgens to Toone in the endzone!
WSU 42; SSU 7.
Hmmm... Trevyn Smith just punches it into the end zone after a scatback run, dodging tacklers right and left.
WSU 49; SSU 7.
I've lost track, but I think between Smith and Toone... WSU has racked up about 9,000 yards on Offense, on the ground and in the air.
If they really wanted to do it right they would take the losers, after they are thoroughly humiliated on the field of battle, and they would chop their heads off, put them on long poles and display them at all the entrances to the campus and town until the next faux war.
I love it when the Utah Wildcats kick some out-of-town teams ass all the way back to Mayberry RFD.
Congrats on whats looking like a stellar season.
Now if we could just get a female QB, and some female athletes on the line...
WSU won, Notre Dame lost. My definition of a good football day.
See, even bona fide, certified and absolute deep thinking intellectuals can be infected with this archaic evolutionary throwback that team sports represents.
Even Mr. Curmudgeon gets caught up in the faux combat and pageantry! He even has a crystal clear image in his mind as to just who the enemy is and they are Christ's own Army from Notre Dame!
One of the great things about faux war is that even good Christian soldiers can be the mortal enemy!
