WCF Halloween Special: Has Halloween Become Overcommercialized?

A recent poll of American 5th graders shockingly finds that 63% could identify the cartoon character Jack Skellington, while only 14% could identify Al'ghol, the ghoul that dwells in burial grounds!

In The Know: Has Halloween Become Overcommercialized?
Have fun tonight kids... But watch your backs. And please get back to us with your comments, if you spot Al'ghol, errr we mean Boss Godfrey tonight, trick or treating and stealing souls (campaigning for Hains, Garner and Phipps, in other words) in his usual Eddie Munster costume.

I just say the Mayor on 25th and Adams. He was all dressed up like a hooker. He had alot of teen age boys around him waving $1.00 bills at him.
He yelled, Hey boys for a dollar you can look up my dress. They each handed over their dollar and took a peek. Then they yelled back at him, you cheat me, you cheat me, that was way to small to be what you told me it was. so the mayor gave them 50 cents back and told them if they wanted the other 50 cents they would have to come to his office on the ninth floor of that building over there.

Not trick or treat.
The Standard Examiner has endorsed Susie VanHooser for City Council.
Also, despite David Phipps' no-show, they've endorsed Bart Blair as well.

I only hope that the SE's endorsement does not cost VanHooser and Blair any votes.

Did Godfrey see his candidates losing, and ask the SE to endorse VanHooser and Blair, as a "Hail Mary" to win his people some votes?

In other words, does he know that the newspaper's endorsement is a candidate killer, so he tried to use that to his advantage?

Reverse psychology?

OK I just watched Rudi's video.

That was funny.

Danny,
My guess is that most SE readers are middle-age to elderly and they have read the SE for most of their lives. Most don't read WCF or get much, if any, news from the internet. They believe that they know what's going on at City Hall because they read the newspaper. They will probably put great store in the SE endorsements. At least I hope so. It certainly can't hurt.

Now it's just a matter of getting out the vote and immediately reporting any funny business you happen to see at the polls.

It always is, OL. It always is.

Halloween used to be the holiday where people enamored with the shiny darkness could all dress up like the hooker version of their favorite totem animal, and have a massive drunken orgy spattered with religious overtones and extra-evil play.

Now, it is the second largest holiday! I hate it when the underground scene becomes cool.
