Standard-Examiner: Godfrey to Announce His Political Plans

Any guesses as to what the little feller's plans may be?

By Ozboy

Well I see that the Street Car subject seems to be drawing a big yawn here today.

So...

How about the announcement on the Standard site from Godfrey that he is going to make an announcement on Thursday about his political future?
Why is he forever announcing that he is going to make an announcement anyway? Why doesn't he just cut the middle man out of the deal and make the friggen announcement already?

Any guesses as to what the little feller's plans may be?

Oz,

I predict he is going to run. Run away from the massive debt he has created and leave it for someone else when it all comes tumbling down.

here here. Ozboy you hit it right on the head. He is not going to run.

You announce you are going to announce because then, you get a double dip of press coverage: (a) the announcement of your intention to announce gets reported as news and then (b) the actual announcement gets reported as news.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that if he were running for reelection he'd have the press conference somewhere else.

I say he's running. Just a hunch!

Cornered in his office would be a bad place for a press conference of a sitting mayor to announce re-election plans.

I am guessing he would announce at some half finished and unneeded Godfrey-Peterson tax sink hole.

Most likely he is going to announce his support for some other shuckster with friends in the real estate industry.

As long as we're walkin on limbs, my guess is he announces he is not running for re-election as mayor but is throwing his Stetson in the ring for a higher political office. His ego would want to advance up the political food chain. He would fit right in with the political majority in the Utah legislature. Lying, sneaky, two-faced, beholdent to realtors, and prone to do business in "smoke filled rooms"...

Well, we'll see, won't we? If Elder Godfrey has his eye on the state legislature, why not? As a Republican he can't lose and he can't possibly make that august body worse than it is.

(But what would he do between leaving office and the 2012 elections? This theory only pans out if he has a job lined up.)

On the other hand, it seems likely that no other mayor could possibly be worse for Ogden. So if he's not running, everyone wins.

Oh, just for fun, how about this: He's going to start a company to organize tours for gondola-smitten US mayors to European gondola sites and to visit the plant where the cars, towers and cables are made. It'll be called "Lift Your City Excursions," M. Godfrey, prop.

Hard to say what Godfrey will do. I believe however that the need to feed his ego at his current political level has run it's course. I would think that he has sufficient well heeled contacts at this point in his career that he just may believe it's time to take that next step up. Guess we'll see tomorrow.

who in the hell cares.

Greiner ought to care big time, that is who should be caring. Without Godfrey, Greiner would last about long enough to clean out his desk and be escorted from the building.
His arrogance, pettyness and disregard for the law would never be allowed by a competent and honest mayor.

Whatever he decides to do, you can be sure it will be a failure.
