Fascinating story of local interest in this morning's Salt Lake Tribune, involving zealous Ogden City code enforcement officers, snooty city council members, possibly negligent realtors, faulty online ordinances and potential lawsuits:
We believe Trib reader petragalazio sums it up best:
Can we all agree that making chickens "illegal" is beyond stupid? Get a grip, Ogden. Be actual Republicans and get out of the lives of your citizens. So what about it, O Gentle Ones? Should the Ogden City Council revisit this issue, and just "let the dude keep his chickens"?
A Weber County Forum Tip O' The Hat to Ogden Councilwoman Wicks and Gochnour for their common sense. As to the other council members? A giant raspberry.
In the interest of fairness, we believe the others need to do a little soul-serching seriously rethink this situation. This poor guy Macarthur’s getting seriously burned, thanks to the still-lingering Godfrey-style Ogden bureaucracy, in our never-humble opinion.
And what say you, O Gentle Ones?

Hell, that creek running through Ms VanHossers yard attracts more varmints than she knows - without the chickens!

O, and my vegetable garden and the irrigation ditch attract rats and raccoons and it's up to me to get rid of those pesky critters. I like the pheasants that live here, lets see the city try & make me get rid of them ... the cock pheasant makes more noise than a rooster any day of the week!

LOL! Godfrey is gone; yet his Stalinists policies still persit
agreed. Let the dude keep his chickens. This ordinance needs to be overturned.
