2012 Utah Primary Election Real-time Tallies - Updated

Grab your Orville Redenbachers' and pull up your Barcalounger easy chairs, as the Lt. Guv's website "scoreboard" begins to light up!

It's 8:00 p.m., and the polls are now closed.  If you'd like to follow real-time election results as they roll in this evening, click the link below, which will take you to the Utah Lieutenant Governors website.  Here's the Lt. Guv's main website link, for those readers who'd like to roam around and check out all Primary Election results, state-wide. Navigate the main menu in the left sidebar to view real-time tallies in every race in every jurisdiction around the state, from U.S. President to local school board :
For our WCF readers' convenience however, we'll cut to the chase. Here are the Lt. Guv's individual vote tally pages for the specific Weber County ballot races and issues which we've been closely following for the past few months:
Please take note that the latter link includes tallies on the $65 million Weber School District bonding proposal which evoked a fair number of reader comments under our WCF writeup just yesterday.

Alternately, WCF political wonks might want to try County Clerk/Auditor  Ricky Hatch's Weber County Election Office website.  We've been tracking this site over the years, and sometimes it's a little more timely than the Lt. Guv's above-linked pages, especially when the Lt. Guv's site gets overwhelmed:
Grab your Orville Redenbachers and pull up your Barcaloungers, folks, as the Lt. Guv's website "scoreboard" begins to light up!

Update 6/26/12 8:15 p.m.:  Patience, folks.  After seven years linking vote tallies in seven (countem 7) previous elections, we've learned that it often takes a half-hour or more to get the Lt. Guv's online voter count software moving to display the "real-time" vote tallies, (so called).

Real Time Talliues is experiencing Real Time Difficulties. No doubt the server is swamped...good luck getting through.  KSL did post some prelim numbers and no surprises there..Hatch leads. Mitt so far has 93% of the vote..status quo..steady...steady..don't rock the USS Utah Republika

The weird thing about it AWM, is that back in the days when vote tallies were being counted via paper punchcards, we'd usually see real-time vote tallies showing up on the various websites within about a half-hour of the 8:00 p.m. poll closures.

Weirdly, since we've relied on them danged Diebold voting machines during the past several years, we've seldom had vote counts come up from the government counting sites sooner than within 45 minutes of the poll closures.

This  makes no sense at all afaic.

Go figure.

Rudi........how long, once the tallies start to show up, do you expect all precincts to be in. I am only watching CD#1 race. But still. WC has not reported any precincts at all for that race.

During the 2010 General Election, it took almost an hour for the first tallies to show up.  Once they began to "light up," it only took about another hour or so before all precincts were in.  My advice?   Sit tight and have a "cool one," hon.

Congratulations to Scott Handy, who took the top spot in our Ogden School Board Precinct 5 election with 167 votes.

I look forward to working for him, and supporting his candidacy, in the upcoming general election campaign.

Not so fast, Jim.  Now it appears that the final tallies have disappered from the Weber County Clerk/Auditor's site.

Thanks for throwing your hat into the race, Jim.  Yes, we'll be supporting Mr. Handy at WCF too.

Question: is a plurality enough to win s schoolboard race? Or if no one gets a majority is there a runoff between top two candidates?

Looks like McAleer over Combe. She ran up huge margin in Summit Co. I am a little surprised that she also took Weber Co. --- Combe's base --- handily as well. But pleased since I voted for her.

I hope Mr. Combe takes aim at a legislative race next year. He's a strong candidate to take back a seat lost to the GOP in a swing district. A few successful terms in the House or Senate and he'll be well-positioned to aim higher.

Ditto Rudi's comment from me. And I 'd say the incumbant is in trouble going forward, though there'll be a much larger turnout for the next go-round. Will be interesting to see how the incumbant campaigns from this point on.

Perhaps the people who showed up at the Weber County debate told their friends.  She was certainly the stronger candidate in the debate in my book and the debate changed my vote in her direction.

The top two vote-getters go to the general, regardless of percentages.

McAleer won CD#1 with 67% if all votes cast. However, in Weber County, she only secured slightly over 50% of votes cast.

All who voted for her on WCF need to talk with their friends. I hope she sucks BISHOP into a debate in WC. If so, you will be hearing about it, in advance, from me, on this site.

In light of the huge margin in her favor in Summit Co. [about a K], Combe needed to do similarly well in his base, Ogden/Weber.  He didn't. It surprised me. I expected him to take Ogden/Weber.  Before Mr. Combe runs for a county-wide office again, if I were him, I'd do some serious analysis/polling to figure out why his message misfired in his base town/county, what it didn't get more traction with Dems in his base county than it did.   His stand on most issues was nearly identical to McAleer's.  He's a better platform speaker than McAleer. And yet even in his base county, Dems went the other way.  He needs to look into why before he runs again, as I hope he will, for state legislative office this time.

Yea that lady is sharp,  I watched one of the debates and she was impressive and void of any negativity toward her opponent although that will have to change if she debates Bishop.

I think among a lot of things, a West Point grad trumps an  LDS mission,  and he was banking on his name and religion (aka. "values") to carry him through.  I think he did a most phenomenal job with what he had to work with.  I have high hopes for him and think this was a great lesson in his journey.

 Yup; you've nailed it.

Sorry I missed that debate. But I have been reading stuff about how McAleer will run this next part of her campaign, now against only Bishop. She will need to unite, behind her, all COMBE voters, plus all people TEAM COMBE registered in Davis & Weber Counties, since McAleer already has Summit, and the other counties of CD#1 are low voter pop, except CACHE.

I expect McAleer will remain very dignified when she debates Bishop, because the base behind her is very educated and will not like low blows and negative campaign ads. As much as anything, because we realize how many disaffected Mormon Democrats and INDIE Mormons as well as Centrist Mormon Republicans (do those really exist....?)......it will take, to beat Bishop.

National Republicans have already shown how to rally a base with a stupefying logic: BEAT OBAMA. That is not a campaign platform.
